ABOUT JONES DAY
Jones Day is One Firm Worldwide® because that's the best way to meet a client's needs, and the best way to develop and retain exceptional legal talent.
Jones Day seeks to provide institutional solutions to our clients' institutional needs. All clients are clients of the Firm. All clients can call upon any and all of the resources of the Firm in seeking to meet their challenges—including across jurisdictions and disciplines.
New lawyers at Jones Day find out very quickly that our commitment to teamwork is real. Our lawyers work across offices, practices, and continents, and are devoted to serving their clients, improving the legal profession, and promoting the rule of law.
We are not a constellation of individuals and offices and practices. We have no "branch" or "satellite" offices and no headquarters.
This is Jones Day: True partners, with each other and with our clients, based on communication, collaboration, conviction, and talent across specialties and jurisdictions. That’s the right way to serve clients. That’s the best way for lawyers new to the Firm to become outstanding attorneys.
Jones Day clients don't "belong" to individual partners, or even particular offices or practices. Instead, every client is a client of the Firm, and we draw on the legal resources, wherever they are located in the Firm, best suited to address the client’s problems.
Jones Day's commitment to client service means our lawyers work together in a collaborative atmosphere where teamwork is essential, respect for and from colleagues is the norm, and credit is shared for a job well done.
In fact, every facet of the Firm is structured to promote an environment that's client-focused, but also professionally fulfilling for lawyers at any career stage. We expect our lawyers to focus completely on a client's needs, with the full support and encouragement of their peers. We recognize that partners and associates alike contribute to the Firm in a variety of ways, and we reward lawyers for their overall contributions to the Firm and for promoting the Firm's values. Jones Day does not record origination credits or employ an "eat-what-you-kill" compensation arrangement.
Jones Day seeks lawyers who are concerned with delivering the best service possible to our clients, with colleagues whom they value and respect. Our lawyers take great pride in their work, they lack pretension, and they show respect and consideration to everyone in the Firm—partners, associates, and staff alike.

We have long recognized the uncertainty many law students feel when selecting a practice area. As with all relationships, we believe it takes some time for an individual to find his or her personal fit within the Firm and passion for a specific practice. That uncertainty and the value of experiencing a variety of assignments and practices during that first year at the Firm led Jones Day to establish the New Lawyers Group. This program provides our newest lawyers with the opportunity to gain exposure to different practice areas and lawyering styles before making a commitment to a specific practice. All lawyers joining our domestic offices from law school— and judicial clerks, at their election—become members of the New Lawyers Group for about a year before joining a practice.
What does all this mean for a new lawyer? It guarantees exposure to a wide variety of lawyers, different styles of practice, and the experience of practicing within our culture of collaboration and mutual support.

We have been honored to represent a significant number of global industry leaders for more than ten years, and we count approximately half of the Fortune 500, Fortune Global 500, and FT Global 500 among our clients. Our dedication to delivering the best of the Firm in every client engagement has not gone unnoticed, and it has earned Jones Day industry awards and recognition year after year.
