Gurneet Singh has more than 10 years of experience in intellectual property (IP) matters involving complex technological areas for many well-known companies.

Gurneet focuses his practice on patent litigation in federal courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). He has also managed, supervised, and handled development of global patent portfolios and has drafted and successfully prosecuted hundreds of patent applications. Gurneet has analyzed patent portfolios for due diligence purposes, drafted several freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions, and counseled on open-source software issues.

Gurneet has represented clients in various technologies, including artificial intelligence, hardware accelerators, digital media players, radio-frequency identification systems, blockchain technology, cloud-computing platforms, autonomous vehicles, database technologies, medical devices, and consumer products.

He has authored articles related to patent law in academic and practice-focused journals, including the Chicago-Kent Journal of IP, the IP lawyer column within the IAM (Intellectual Asset Management) magazine, the expert analysis section of Law360, IP Litigator, and others.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Gurneet was a patent associate at a global IP firm. He also worked as a full-time patent agent while attending Rutgers Law School in the evenings. Upon graduation, Rutgers recognized him as an outstanding law school graduate.

Gurneet has performed academic research at UCLA, ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), and IIT Bombay (Indian Institute of Technology). He has taught technology management as a teaching assistant at UCLA, electrical engineering as an instructor for a summer program at UCLA, and tennis as a certified tennis coach. Additionally, Gurneet represented India multiple times in International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior World Ranking Tennis Tournaments in singles and doubles categories.
